Had the profound honor of painting Olaf, a beloved therapy dog that provides comfort to children and families at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
I was also fortunate to attend the VIP opening night of this beautiful, brand new facility and to meet some of the people that know Olaf well. Therapy dogs play a vital role in offering comfort and painting this piece was not a task I took lightly. After speaking with staff, it's apparent he is cherished by many.
I didn't get to meet Olaf, however, after spending so much time painting his likeness, I do feel like I somehow know him. It means more than I can fully express to have my work be part of a space dedicated to hope, resilience and healing.
I got to “know” Olaf through every stroke of paint on the canvas.
